DALLAS -- Taj Gibson scored 20 points and Jimmy Butler added 19 to lead the Chicago Bulls rallied to a 100-91 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night at American Airlines Center.
The loss snapped the Mavs' four-game winning streak and left them with a 1-1 split of this brief two-game home stand.
After losing their sixth game this season when they've led by 16 or more points, the Mavs (36-24) now head to San Antonio where they play the Spurs at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Monta Ellis led the Mavs with 20 points, Dirk Nowitkzi and Vicne Carter tallied 15 points apiece, Jose Calderon had 13 points and Shawn Marion finished with 11 points.
Other than Gibson and Butler, the Bulls (32-25) got 17 points from Hinrich, 16 from Mike Dunleavy and 10 points and nine rebounds from Joakim Noah.
A steal and fast break dunk by Monta Ellis put the Mavs ahead 85-84 with 5:07 left. But Mike Dunleavy drileld a 3-pointer, Taj Gibson executed a dunk, Jimmy Butler, Kirk Hinrich nailed a jumper and Butler added a pair of free throws to give the Bulls a 94-85 lead with 1:23 remaining in the game.
The Mavs led by as much as 16 points -- 38-22 -- with 10:17 left before halftime following a pair of free throws by DeJuan Blair.
Dallas built a 54-51 lead at the half and a 76-73 lead after the third quarter. But the Bulls tighten their defense in the fourth period when they limited the Mavs to just 15 points.
Chicago didn't take its first lead of the game until Carlos Boozer scored with 2:48 left in the third period to push the Bulls ahead 73-72.
