DALLAS -- Jose Calderon is probably wondering who he has to sweet talk in order to become a member of the NBA's 3-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend.
Last year Calderon didn't make the 3-point contest and wound up leading the league in 3-point shooting at 46.1 percent. This year the Dallas Mavericks' point guard is sixth in the NBA in 3-point shooting at 44.1 percent and was shutout again from being one of the eight contestants announced today who will participate in the 3-point shooting contest at All-Star Weekend.
The NBA chose four players from the Western Conference and four plaeyrs form the Eastern Conference for the 3-point contest.
The four from the West includes Minnesota's Kevin Love, Portland's Damian Lillard, San Antonio's Marco Belinelli and Golden State's Stephen Curry. The East contestants are Brooklyn's Joe Johnson, Washngton's Bradley Beal, Cleveland's Kyrie Irving and Orlando's Arron Afflalo.
At 44.3 percent, Belinelli is in fifth place in the NBA in 3-point shooting and is the only one among the eight contestants who are shooting better than Calderon at this point of the season.
