DALLAS -- Shawn Marion likely will not play in tonight's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Dallas Mavericks' 15-year veteran hasn't fully recovered from a fall during a Jan. 7 game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Marion missed four games after suffering contusions to his right shoulder and upper ribs, then played eight before sitting out last Friday's win over the Sacramento Kings.
"He's doing better,'' coach Rick Carlisle said after Monday's shootaround at American Airlines Center. "I'll let you know tonight where we're at.''
Tipoff between the Mavs (27-21) and Cavs (16-31) is at 7:30 tonight at the AAC.
If Marion can't play, the Mavs will start Jae Crowder in his place. Whatever Crowder's doing in Marion's absence, the Mavs are 6-1 with him in the starting lineup.
"He's doing well when he's filled in as a starter this year and that wasn't the case last year, so that's good,'' Carlisle said. "I'd rather have all our guys available and start Marion and have Crowder off the bench.''
