PHILADELPHIA -- Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 124-112 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night at the Wells Fargo Arena.
It was the opener of a three-game road trip for the Mavs, who improved to 33-23 and will play Saturday night against the Detroit Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Other than Nowitzki, the Mavs got 22 points from Shawn Marion, 18 from DeJuan Blair and 11 from Monta Ellis.
Thaddeus Young (30 points, 13 rebounds, seven steals) and Michael Carter-Williams (25 points) paced the Sixers.
The Mavs built a 37-15 lead late in the first quarter, but saw the scrappy Sixers cut to it 77-73 midway through the third period. However, the Mavs were just too much for a Sixers squad that dressed just eight players due to multiple trades made on Thursday.
The final score could have been a lot worse if the Mavs hadn't committed 25 turnovers which led to 34 points for the Sixers.
