DALLAS -- Dirk Nowitkzi scored 22 points and the Dallas Mavericks rallied and scored the last 11 points of the game to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers,103-98, in electrifying fashion Friday night at American Airlines Center.
The Mavs (37-26) led this game by 30 points, 44-14, with 8:41 remaining in the first half, only to see the Blazers come back and take a 98-92 lead with 4:26 left following an alley-oop dunk by LaMarcus Aldridge.
But the Mavs didn't blink and went on to snap their three-game losing streak.
A 3-point play by Devin Harris (12 points) put the Mavs ahead with 24.2 seconds left. Aldridge then threw the ball away, giving the Mavs a break.
However, Monta Ellis missed a pair of free throws which could have iced the game. But the Mavs got a reprieve when Vince Carter snuck inside of Aldridge and grabbed the offensive rebound.
Carter then sealed it with a pair of free throws with 16.8 seconds remaining.
Jose Calderon got the Mavs off to a greta start when he scored 15 of his 19 points in the first period. Ellis added 17 points and seven assists for the Mavs, and Harris scored 12.
Aldridge led Portland with 30 points and 17 rebounds, and Wesley Matthews added 26 points.
