DALLAS – In the Dallas Mavericks’ three losses to the Denver Nuggets this season, a common theme has basically decided the winner in those games.
“Paint penetration is probably the No. 1 thing, rebounding is a close second, and transition, I guess, you have to put up there too,’’ coach Rick Carlisle said after Friday morning’s shootaround. “All three of those things are massively important in this game, and you’ve got to be smart with the ball because if you turn it over they convert it quick.
“They’ve got a bunch of guys that can run and jump, and they make plays, they’ve got big guys that can handle in transition and make passes and alley-oop to each other, and they got guards that can make three’s and penetrate, so it’s a play-making bunch of guys. The speed of the game is a big factor.’’
The Mavs (41-28) will try and slow down the Nuggets (31-37) when the two clubs meet tonight at 7:30 at American Airlines Center.
