DALLAS – That wild second-half comeback by the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night against the San Antonio Spurs didn’t overly impress coach Rick Carlisle.
That’s because Carlisle was still peeved that his team got outscored 32-13 in the second quarter and fell behind 50-36 at the half in a game they eventually lost, 93-89.
“I’m so disappointed in our no-show in the first half that it’s hard for me to mitigate it with fight for 24 minutes out of 48 minutes a game with this kind of meaning,’’ Carlisle said. “So I’m glad we showed that we were willing and able to fight in the second half.
“But the way we performed, just competitively, is inexcusable.’’
The "inexcusable'' performance by the Mavs helped the Spurs knot this best-of-seven series at 2-2. Game 5 is Wednesday at 6 p.m. in San Antonio, and Game 6 is Friday night in Dallas.
