MEMPHIS -- Mike Conley hit two free throws with 1.1 seconds left in overtime and the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Dallas Mavericks 106-105 Wednesday night at the FedEx Forum.
The loss in this regular season finale means the Mavs (49-33) finished the season as the No. 8 seed and will open the playoffs Sunday at noon in San Antonio against the No. 1-seeded Spurs. Memphis (50-32) will open the playoffs as the No. 7 seed and will take on No. 2-seeded Oklahoma City on Saturday.
Monta Ellis missed a later jumper, and Conley grabbed the rebound and drove down court and was fouled in traffic by Vince Carter. Conley then sank both free throws.
The Mavs had a shot at victory, but Ellis missed a wide open 20-footer at the buzzer.
Ellis drained a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left to tie the game at 93-93 and effectively send it into overtime -- following a missed jumper from the corner by Zach Randolph.
Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavs with 30 points, Ellis scored 18, Devin Harris had 10 points and 10 assists, and Brandan Wright scored 10 points.
Zach Randolph led Memphis with 25 points and 13 reobunds, Conley scored 22, and Marc Gasol fimished with 19 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
