MEMPHIS -- On the positive side, the Dallas Mavericks believe the law of averages will eventually be on their side when they lace them up in the upcoming playoffs against the San Antonio Spurs.
After losing Wednesday to the Memphis Grizzlies, 106-105 in overtime, at the FedEx Forum, the Mavs will open a best-of-seven playoff series against the Spurs at noon Sunday in San Antonio.
Game 2 will also be in San Antonio on Apr. 23 before the series shifts to Dallas for Games 3 and 4 on Apr. 26 and 28, respectively.
The Spurs have beaten the Mavs nine straight games, including all four games the two clubs met this season. But the Mavs aren't fretting about mere one-sided stats as they approach this series with their I-35 brethens.
"I think eventually we will win one,'' forward Dirk Nowitzki said. "Why would it not be Game 1 or Game 2.
"We are going t go out there and let it rip in Game 1. We have to compete like we did tonight. We have to be a little smarter than we were in the last couple of outings.''
