DALLAS -- Just because the Dallas Mavericks have already qualified for the playoffs this year after missing out on it last year doesn't mean they're satisfied with what they've been able to accomplish.
"We won a championship a couple of years ago and you're really only satisfied if you keep competing for it,'' forward Dirk Nowitzki said. "Last year we didn't make the playoffs.''
The Mavs advanced to the playoffs every season from 2001-'12. But they finished 41-41 last year, had an early offseason and came back even hungrier.
"The only way to compete for a championship is if you make the playoffs,'' Nowitzki said. "So I think making the playoffs is the first step.
"Then we’ll just see how far we can take this, and hopefully play well and play together and see how long we can ride it out. And we can talk in a few weeks how the season went.''
