DALLAS – As a form of solidarity and just to wish him well on his special day, the Golden State Warriors and the traveling staff wore T-Shirts to Tuesday’s shootaround with coach Mark Jackson’s name and face on it and wishing him a happy birthday.
Jackson was taken back by the kind gesture.
“I thought, ‘Wow,' ’’ said Jackson, who turned 49 today. "I was touched and humbled. I played in this game, I don’t know if I would have worn Happy Birthday shirts to any of my coaches.
“There’s a bunch of them that I probably would have left them in the hotel room, so to watch these guys wear them, it just was a special touch.’’
Jackson was given a T-shirt, too, but he declined to wear it to the shootaround, he said, because: “I thought it was pretty arrogant to put on my own shirt.’’
