DALLAS -- Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki talked Tuesday about wanting to get his next contract deal over as quick as possible when he becomes a free agent on July 1.
Nowitzki will likely seek a contract in the three-year, $30 million range, which is a deal similar to the one Tim Duncan signed with the San Antonio Spurs in the summer of 2012.
“We love (Nowitzki), he loves us, this is his home,’’ said Donnie Nelson, the Mavs’ president of basketball operations. “Usually those situations get hammered out.
“But it’s a process and its negotiations, and so your hope and expectation is that it works out.’’
