DALLAS -- If he had the magical powers, Raymond Felton noted that he would indeed find a way for Carmelo Anthony to join him and play for the Dallas Mavericks.
"If I can convince that man to do that, that would be great,'' Felton said via a Tuesday afternoon conference call. "We’ve talked a few times.
"Like I said, I can’t really give his information out like that. That’s the whole process that he’s going through.''
The Mavs traded for Felton on June 25, while Anthony is currently one of the most sought-after free agent in the NBA who visited the Mavs last week. The pair were teammates with the Knicks the last two seasons.
"Like I told him before , I would love to play with him, it would be great,'' Felton said. "He's been my friend his high school.
"But Carmelo’s got to do what's best for Carmelo. And only he’s going to make that whole decision by himself.''
Even if the Mavs are unable to bring in another high-caliber player via trade or free agency, Felton believes they already have enough to make some heavy noise n the playoffs next season.
"Obviously If we can get Carmelo it would be great to have a player of his caliber,'' Felton said. "But I'm pretty sure we’re going to add some more guys even if we don’t get Carmelo.
"We’re going to be able to add some more guys to the team that’s going to help.''
