Cowtown Speedway held a Family Fun and Racing Festival Saturday night. There were several sponsors on hand, including Palm Harbor Homes, 99.5 the Wolf and a TMS race car. They gave away prizes and money to the fans. Speaking of money, One lucky fan won $1,807 dollars in the 50/50 drawing. A new record for the track. Speaking of records, there was also a live performance by singer/song writer Mark McGuinn.
The main attraction for the evening were the ASCS Lone Star Region Sprints. This was the second of two nights of racing. They had raced at Boyd Raceway on Friday, where Eric Baldaccini, #4, was the winner.
Saturday there were thirty-two Sprints in the pits at Cowtown. The four heat race winners were J.P. Bailey, #45, Kevin Ramey, #7, George White, #10, and Eric Baldaccini, #4. In the two B mains, Michael Lane, #14, Justin Carver, #24, Aaron Reutzel, #87, Brian Parker, #9, Preston Peebles, #0c, and Travis Elliott, #15t, advanced to the feature.
Twenty cars started the 25-lap main event. Scott Reneau, #1r, started on the pole. Two laps into the race, George White, #10, took a hard flip coming out of turn four. Scott Reneau, #1r, was the early leader, but after a few laps, he was passed by Brian McClelland, #25. Brian continued to lead the race, but with one lap to go, he almost lost it in turn four, but regained control and went on to win the race and the $2,000 prize money.
