They say they do things bigger in Texas. At the Port-a-Cool U.S. National Dirt Track Championships at Texas Motor Speedway, they held two complete race shows on the same day. Friday's scheduled races were canceled due to rain. So TMS track officials decided to run Friday's portion of the races on Saturday morning. Over 240 race teams were on hand to compete for the championships at the 4/10 mile, semi-banked, clay oval.
Fort Worth's own Troy Taylor, #56, passed John Whittington, #511, on the final lap of the 30-lap feature to take the exciting Limited Modifieds crown and the $2,000 prize money. This was Troy's third feature win at the Dirt Track Championships. Shane Hebert, #9, Dean Abbey, #26, and Randy Timms, #41g, rounded out the top five.

Nothing freaky about this win. Clyde "Lil' Freaky" Dunn Jr., #88xxx, showed the Modifieds the fast way around the track to take the 40-lap Modifieds feature and the $3,000 win. This was Clyde's first TMS U.S. Dirt Track Championship feature win and he mentioned that it was the biggest of his career. Chris Henigan, #16, Randy Timms, #5t, Shane Hebert, #9, John Whittington, #511, were your top five.
