The 1st Annual David Pope Memorial Race at the Superbowl Speedway was a huge success. There was a large crowd, I believe the largest in the track's history and almost 200 race cars in the pits. David Pope, a successful business man, owner of David Pope Produce Trucking Company and a winning race car driver, passed away last year. David grew up in Greenville, TX, and started racing in 1975. His yellow No. 54, nick named the "Love Bandit", was a fan favorite.

In the USRA Modifieds feature, Clyde Dunn Jr., No. 88xx, defeated Josh Landers, No. 14x, for the $3,000 feature win. Tim Clonch, No. 18, was third, Triston Dycus, No. 14t, was fourth and Bobby Malcus, No. 4m, was fifth.
Josh Landers had a strong showing against some stiff competition.
