Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track
March 7 (Friday)
It was day two of the Port-A-Cool Texas World Dirt Track Championships at Texas Motor Speedway. Friday was qualifying day. After several heat races, C and B mains, seven racers from the Modifieds and Limited Modifieds are locked in for Saturday's finales. The Modifieds, Limited Modifieds and SUPR Late Models will be battling it out for their share the $75,000 cash and prizes. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m.
Modified Top Qualifier: Local Sean Jones, No. 24, showed the other Modifieds the fast way around the track with Kelly Shylock, No. 3, settling for second. Former champion Troy Taylor, No. 56, was third, Rodney Sanders, No. 20, was fourth, Steve Whiteaker Jr., No. 89, was fifth, Cade Dillard, No. 97, was sixth and rounding out the top seven qualifiers that are locked into Saturday's finale was Jason Hughes, No. 12.

Limited Modified Winner: Batman flew Friday night. Dennie Gieber, No. 15w, was the top qualifier Friday night. Travis Johnson, No. 86j, was second, J.C. Howell, No. 103, was third, Rodney Sanders, No. 20, was fourth, Snane Hoefling, No. 63, was fifth, John Whittington, No. 5w, was sixth and Triston Dycus, No. 77, rounded out the top seven that are locked in Saturday.

The SUPR Late Models: The SUPR Late Models will run their championship feature Saturday night. The feature winner will take home $3,500 for the win.
